Our volunteers are vital to the success of many of our programs - see the list below. Get involved now!
- Activity Coordinator - Coordinate meal center activities.
- Activity Leader - Lead a variety of activities at one of our meal centers.
- Client Trip Aide - Assist meal center clients on outings.
- Computer Trainer - Provide training in computer basics, internet, email, and office applications including Word and Excel.
- Congregate Meal Center Friendly Visitor - Visit with clients at meal centers, provide socialization and companionship.
- Nursing Home Friendly Visitor - Visit residents in area nursing homes and assisted living facilities to read them, help them to write letters, enjoy card games, or engage in a friendly conversation.
- Fundraiser - Assist in fundraising, partnership building, and grant writing. Previous experience in nonprofit fundraising necessary.
- Home Assessments - Assist the Nutrition Coordinator in conducting home assessments for new clients.
- Home Delivered Meals - Deliver frozen meals and a friendly smile to homebound elderly clients once a week.
- Job Training Assistant - Meet with program participants, develop employment/goal plans, and track progress.
- Medical Transportation Aides - Ride along with an RAAA van driver to assist in transporting clients to medical appointments.
- Medical Transportation Driver - Using RAAA vans, transport clients to medical appointments on designated transportation days.
- Information Technology/Networking Guru - Solve computer and printer networking issues in office and meal centers, set up networking among office computers.
- Office Support - Assist the Nutrition Coordinator with office work related to the Home Delivered Meals and the Congregate Meals programs.
- Site Supply - Transport supplies to meal centers once a week.
- Spanish Translator - Translate materials, help with community outreach, provide translation during home assessments and in-office client meetings, possibly train as an insurance counselor to assist Spanish-speaking clientele with health insurance issues.
- Telephone Reassurance - Make telephone contact with seniors living alone to check on their safety and well being and to provide companionship.
- Travel Trainer - Help RAAA Travel Trainer to train older people and persons with disabilities to use fixed route transportation (Fredericksburg Regional Transit).
