VOLUNTEER DRIVER PROGRAM

Attention! Recruiting area residents for a new Volunteer Driver Program.

Our goal is to provide transportation alternatives for persons with disabilities who live in our service area: Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, Stafford counties and the City of Fredericksburg.

The reward to you as a volunteer is the opportunity to provide much needed transportation to riders for a variety of trip destinations — medical appointments, shopping, recreational outings and social engagements.

Volunteers benefit from:

1. Personal liability and vehicle insurance provided at no cost by RAAA through the State of Virginia Division of Risk Management. This insurance covers the volunteer and the vehicle while the rider is in the volunteer’s car.
2. Stipend of 25 cents per mile for miles traveled while the rider is in the volunteer’s car. Reimbursement is paid on a biweekly basis.
3. Flexible schedule based on the amount of time a volunteer wants to contribute to the program
4. Knowledge that you are helping an area resident to meet a critical need that in many cases may otherwise be left unfulfilled.
